‘Charles’ the Maoist gives cops tough time
Atram Shoban is popularly known as Charles among Maoists.
Hyderabad: Maoist “Charles” has been giving a tough time to Greyhounds and special police in areas bordering Adilabad in Telangana. Atram Shoban, popularly known as Charles among Maoists, along with Adilabad district committee secretary Mailarapu Adellu alias Bhaskar has been creating problems along the TS -Maharashtra border. The Mangi area committee dalam led by Charles is the most active Maoist dalam now in TS.
The thirty-one-year-old, fair, 5’11” Charles is a Gond tribal. He is a district committee member of Adilabad as well as in-charge of the Mangi area committee. He is a native of Rompally of Thiryani Mandal in Adilabad district. “Charles carries an SLR and was involved in the murder of a tribal recently in Adilabad area. As he is a native of that place he knows the terrain and geography. He is one of the most active Maoists on the border now. He carries a reward of '10 lakh on his head,” said a TS police official. Charles is married to another Maoist, Jyothi.
The other Maoist, Bhaskar, 43, is a native of Pochera of Boath in Adilabad. He is learnt to carry an AK 47. He is the state committee member of Telangana and DCS of Adilabad. K. Sambaiah and L. Saramma of the Indravelli committee are also part of the Adilabad district committee. The Mangi committee includes Jyothi, Charles’s wife, Lingamma, Prameela, Bhaskar’s wife, K. Ravinder who is Bhaskar’s guard, and 18-year-old Dinesh.
