Pakistan's cricketer turned politician Imran Khan meets Narendra Modi
New Delhi: Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan's Tehreek-e-Insaf Party on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here during which both expressed the hope that the recent developments would lead to closer cooperative ties between the two countries.
"At his request," Khan, who is also Member of Parliament in Pakistan, called on the Prime Minister, a PMO statement said. The cricketer-turned-politician invited the Prime Minister to visit Pakistan.
"In the courtesy call, they welcomed the recent developments in bilateral relations and expressed the hope that these would lead to closer cooperative ties between the two countries," the statement said.
India and Pakistan on Wednesday broke the ice in bilateral ties when they decided to have a comprehensive dialogue during the visit of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to Islamabad.
