Monks attack BJP leadership

The Mutt also sought BJP state president V. Muraleedharan's cooperation to bring BJP ministers.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sivagiri Mutt has criticised state BJP leadership for not cooperating to bring its central leaders for the 83rd annual pilgrimage beginning Dec 30.
They also confirmed Thursday’s Deccan Chronicle report that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was visiting Sivagiri on Tuesday uninvited.
Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust president Swami Prakashananda, general secretary Swami Rithambarananda and Guru Dharma Pracharana Sabha secretary Guru Prasad, at a press meet here, said they had written to President, Vice-President and central BJP ministers on the pilgrimage.
The Mutt also sought BJP state president V. Muraleedharan's cooperation to bring BJP ministers.
“We wrote to Mr Muraleedharan on Aug 18 and repeated it over the phone. We did not get a response until Nov 29. We got the assurance only from Vice-President Hamid Ansari. Union tourism minister Dr Mahesh Sharma too agreed on our personal request,” they said.
Since the rest of the ministers did not respond, the Mutt authorities finalised the programme with those who had confirmed.
Rithambarananda also took a dig at SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan’s Bharat Dharma Jana Sena saying as an individual it was okay, but as a person heading a community organisation, it did not look good.
M. K. Raghavan joined Congress with 10,000 people when he was general secretary. But history showed none remained with him.
