K Chandrasekhar Rao readies gold for Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams

CM to offer promised jewellery after GHMC polls.
Hyderabad: Nearly 10 months after TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao promised to offer Rs 5.59 crore jewellery to Tirupati Balaji and other deities for fulfilling his vow of achieving Telangana state, the state government has constituted a three-member panel on Thursday to monitor preparation of the ornaments.
Mr Rao is likely to visit Tirupati in February, after the GHMC elections, to offer the ornaments to the deity. The Telangana Cabinet on January 30 this year had ratified the proposal to offer the gold and the government had issued orders on February 24, sanctioning Rs 5.59 crore from the Common Good Fund of the Endowments department.
However, there had been no progress on this since then. On Thursday, the government constituted a committee to implement these orders and assigned the task of completing preparation of the ornaments in consultation with temple authorities as per their specifications.
The committee comprises retired IAS officer and government adviser Dr K.V. Ramana Chary, jewellery verification officer of endowments K. Bhaskar and assistant commissioner D. Rajeshwar.
