GHMC, poll panel asked to explain voters’ ‘shift’

The judge asked the GHMC and SEC to explain how these issues were resolved.
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the GHMC and the State Election Commission to explain by Friday, the method they adopted to deal with the representations, complaints made by voters who alleged that they had been shown as voters of another ward.
Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy was dealing with a writ petition filed by former BJP corporator Bangari Prakash and two others, alleging that they were voters of Mehdipatnam but had been allotted to Asifnagar and Gudimalkapur in the recent delimitation.
They told the court that they brought this to the notice of the authorities and filed objections and suggestions but they were not considered.
They contended that this would change the complexion of voters affecting the reservation for BC communities.
Adjourning the case to Friday, the judge asked the GHMC and SEC to explain how these issues were resolved.
