Down town controversy: Morcha takes out big march

This is the second such march by right wing groups against the restaurant.
KOZHIKODE: Traffic on the arterial Kannur Road was thrown out of gear when Yuva Morcha activists took out a march to the North Zone ADGP office at Nadakkavu, demanding an investigation into the proprietors of ‘Down Town’ restaurant and their alleged connection with Kiss of Love activist Rahul Pasupalan.
Yuva Morcha activists said that Rahul Pasupalan’s statements to the police, after his arrest in connection with an online sex racket, exposed the role of the restaurant owners behind the Kiss of Love protest.
Rahul Pasupalan and team had launched the Kiss of Love protest against moral policing when Yuva Morcha activists attacked the restaurant alleging immoral activities.
This is the second such march by right wing groups against the restaurant. Hindu Munnani had carried out a march to the office of the Police Commissioner with the same demands last week.
Yuva Morcha activists allege that Rahul Pasupalan and Down Town restaurant owners have close links and the source of income of the restaurant owners should be probed.
The activists said they would intensify their protests till police initiated a probe and brought the anti-socials before the law.The march by Yuva Morcha paralysed traffic on city roads during the busy morning hours.
The students of Nadakkavu Government Girls Vocational Higher Secondary School had to struggle to reach the school after police barricaded the roads and diverted traffic.
It was examination day for the students and they had to walk long distances to get vehicles.
