Police is likely to move a petition in the court

Kochi: Additional Sessions Court (for trial of cases connected with offences against women and children) on Wednesday remanded Fr Edwin Figares, the Christian priest who was arrested for sexually abusing a 14-yr-old girl, in judicial custody.
The priest, whose arrest was recorded on Tuesday, was shifted to Ernakulam sub-jail. Police is likely to move a petition in the court on Thursday seeking his custody for further interrogation.
Fr. Fuigares was arrested under various sections of IPC including under Section 376 (rape) and various sections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
