Four held for robbing Rs 50 lakh

Hyderabad: Two days after the roadside robbery in Medak in which Rs 50 lakh was looted from a cotton trader, the police arrested four people in connection with the case. Police officials found that the robbers planned the offence thinking that the victim would not approach the police as the money was Hawala. One of the arrested accused is victim Md. Ishaq's car driver named Md. Ashfaq, who allegedly planned the robbery along with three other offenders.
The other three suspects were identified as Md. Imran, Md. Mustafa, both residents of Mominpet, and Md Javed, a resident of Sadashivpet. “Ashfaq, who had been the driver of victim for a while knows that every 10 days, his employer ferried lakhs of rupees from Hyderabad to Sadashivpet. He planned the robbery with three others and on the day of robbery, he informed them over phone before they started from Hyderabad with the money. He also acted helpless when the trio attacked the car,” said a senior police official from Medak.
Meanwhile, the police is inquiring if the money is Hawala. The investigation officials said that they would inform the Income Tax department to verify the source of money. The robbery occurred on Sunday after 8 pm between Kavampet and Ganesh Gadda. The robbers stopped the Skoda car and attacked the passengers including the trader Ishaq, who belongs to Beed district in Maharashtra.
