Watch: Sonakshi Sinha joins her father's birthday celebration in Kerala

Mumbai: Shatrughan Sinha turned 70 this year and the entire family headed to backwaters of Kerala for a holiday. Sonakshi Sinha excitedly took to Instagram to share a picture, "The Sinha and Agarwal girls have taken over this flight... #familyholiday #quicktrip #traveldiaries #fun #famjam"

The family received a grand welcome in Alappuzha with Kalaripayattu (Kerela’s indeigenous martial arts) and Chenda (a percussion instrument) melam. Sonakshi Sinha, who was impressed by the performance of the percussionists, soon joined them in the celebration. The actress posted a video of her chenda performance and captioned it as “When in rome do what the romans do! But im in Kerala, so…”

Much of their off-site celebration was held aboard a houseboat on Vembanadu lake, including cake cutting. She captioned it as, "Happy birthday to Shotgun Senior @ShatruganSinha! Hes anything but khamosh and we love him for that"
