Adilabad: Political leaders irrespective of parties are eyeing votes in the illegal encroachments of government lands and pavements in Adilabad town. On the directions of the Adilabad Municipal chairperson Rangineni Manisha, civic staff removed permanent sheds set up on encroached government land NTR Chowrasta in Adilabad on Monday.
The decision was taken following a complaint lodged by representatives of a religious place stating that the illegal encroachment chocked the face the institution and its entry and causing inconvenience to the visitors.
R. Venkatswamy, resident of Dwarakanagar of Adilabad town said it was unfortunate that political leaders were coming to the rescue of the encroachers even after knowing that their act was illegal and added that political leaders of all parties are same when their selfish motives are concerned.
A senior officer in the Revenue Department said they cannot implement the rules and norms most of the times due to political pressure.
Municipal authorities seem to be firm in removing all the illegal encroachments in Adilabad town with the support of the police.
It is clear that an unorganised mafia is behind the illegal encroachments and they have made it a profitable business.
