Man waylaid, Rs 50 lakh robbed

Police found the cash was hawala money from Gujarat and Rajasthan.
Hyderabad: Robbers stopped a cotton trader's car at Sadashivpet in Medak district on Monday night, attacked the passengers and robbed Rs 50 lakh from the vehicle. The gang sprinkled chilli powder and escaped with the bag containing cash. Meanwhile, preliminary police investigation pointed to the involvement of the car’s driver, who allegedly planned the robbery with a gang from Medak to rob his own employer. The police probe also revealed that the cash was hawala money and had come from Gujarat and Rajasthan. The cops have booked a case against the robbers and are exploring possibilities to book another case against the trader for hawala transaction.
The incident occurred at around 8 pm on a road between Kavampet and Ganesh Gadda in Sadasivpet Mandal. The four robbers stopped the Skoda car and attacked the passengers including the trader Mohammed Ishaq, who belongs to Beed district of Maharashtra. His associates were also beaten up. The robbers escaped with a bag of cash containing '50 lakh while there was at least one crore in the vehicle.
Ishaq’s driver named Ashfaq is suspected to have informed a local gang and planned the robbery. Cops have started a manhunt. “The victim collects cotton from farmers in Sadasivpet and sends it to Rajasthan and Gujarat. But the money comes to him via hawala. We suspect the victim’s driver is hand in glove with the robbers,” said Medak SP Ms B. Sumathi. The trader and his associates were going to their hotel after collecting the money from their hawala agent.
A case has been registered for robbery. Special teams have been formed by the police for investigations.
