Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi lands in cheating row
Bengaluru: Trouble is brewing for sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi and her brother Rudraksh, a costume designer, after Venkatesh, the producer of an upcoming Kannada movie Nati Koli, lodged a complaint against the two with the J.P. Nagar police alleging that they have not returned Rs 16 lakh he had given to them for costumes of a photo-shoot in connection with the film.
The police have registered a cheating case against the actress and her brother. Venkatesh had earlier filed a complaint against Ragini with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC).
Venkatesh had stated in his complaint that while Ragini had taken Rs 10 lakh as advance amount for Nati Koli, Rudrakash had taken Rs 6 lakh for her wardrobes. He also alleged that the duo had refused to return the money stating that they would work in his next movie. The police have not yet registered an FIR and are seeking legal opinion to pursue the complaint.
It may be recalled that the photo shoot of Nati Koli, directed by Srinivas Raju, was called off after another film producer Shivaprakash had barged into a studio in Wilson Garden and assaulted Venkatesh and threatened Raju.
According to the director, the entire unit was present when Shivaprakash, claiming to be actress Ragini Dwivedi’s boyfriend barged in and created a ruckus and assaulted Venkatesh. From then on, there was friction between the actress and the film producer.
