Hyderabad: A 29-year-old school teacher committed suicide on Monday in Petbasheerabad. Sources said that Srilatha, who had been depressed for not being able to conceive, immolated herself at her home when her husband Mr Pochaiah was not at home. The two had married nearly nine years ago after a courtship of two year. They were living in Petbasheerabad.
Srilatha was a teacher at a private school while Mr Pochaiah, who was also her maternal uncle, is working for a private firm. Sources said that Srilatha was depressed for not having children and Mr Pochaiah had tried to assuage her depression often. On Monday, when Mr Pochaiah had gone out on some work, Srilatha committed suicide. "She immolated herself after pouring kerosene. She succumbed while being shifted to hospital," said a police source. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
