No new water lines for areas around Outer Ring Road
Hyderabad: The Water Board is denying water connections to residents living in internal areas of the Outer Ring Road. Officials said the ban was temporary and connections would be given once an ongoing survey was completed in a few months.
Over 5,000 residents in Hyderabad and more than 2,500 in the Cantonment Board area are waiting for new connections. Several apartments in the new city depend on bore wells.
Gyneshwar Reddy of Shamshabad said, “I had applied for a tap connection in 2014 (file 2014-9-2727). Till now my connection is pending approval, whereas I have paid all the charges. I contacted the concerned deputy general manager but no one is able to take the file forward.”
K.V. Gupta of Hayatnagar said, “Our builder was sanctioned a Manjeera water connection in August 2014 and the order was issued a month later. From then, though we followed the matter up with officials, the connection has not been given till date. The contractor provided the line connections in February.”
Water board officials said the connections would be given in a few months as the corporation is conducting a detailed survey, investigation and preparation of water supply conceptual design report for strengthening, rehabilitation and extension to new areas outside GHMC limits and formulation of water supply for areas falling within the ORR. The survey will take two months, an official informed.
