Mining: Jagan Mohan Reddy public meeting on December 10

He also alleged that the TD government was allotting land to its party leaders.

Visakhapatnam: YSRC Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy will address a massive public meeting in Chintapalli against bauxite mining and attend an interactive session with tribals in Lambasingi on December 10, YSRC leader Botsa Satyanarayana told the reporters in Visakhapatnam on Monday.

Mr Satyanarayana was very critical of the TD government on its volte face on the issue. “The same Chandrababu Naidu, while in the Opposition, had said that bauxite mining could lead to displacement of tribals and make their sustenance difficult. But now the TD government has issued a GO in favour of it,” Mr Satyanarayana said.

He also alleged that the TD government was allotting prime land in the state to its party leaders for a mere pittance, creating a huge loss to the state’s exchequer.

“While about 500 acres worth Rs 250 crore was allotted to the VBC group of MLC M.V.V.S. Murthi at a throwaway price of Rs 5 crore, about 20 acres was given to MP Galla Jayadev in Chittoor district at a paltry price of Rs 2 crore. Despite the Vizag district administration's recommended price of Rs 7.5 crore per acre, the government had allotted 50 acres of land in Vizag to the close aides of Nara Lokesh at Rs 50 lakh an acre, violating all norms and misusing all its powers,” Mr Satyanarayana added.

According to him, the TD government was in cahoots with the sand mafia in AP. “By creating artificial scarcity and fixing the price inappropriately, the TD leaders are raking in crores of rupees, exploiting the natural resources of the state. Since the TD government claimed office, sand prices have increased manifold,” he added.
