Che Guevara statue to be installed in West Godavari

Che Guevara was not only a Marxist revolutionary, but also a physician, diplomat and a ubiquitous counter-cultural symbol of rebellion and global insignia in popular culture.

As a young medical student, Che Guevara travelled through South America and was radicalised by the poverty, hunger and disease and fought for the cause. He is a great source of inspiration to actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.

“We planned to set up Che Guevara's statue in the heart of the Bhimavaram town. It is for the first time in India that a Cuban leader is being honoured in this manner,” said PYF president Yarlagadda Ramesh Naidu.

He said Pawan Kalyan fans are setting up the statue of Pawan Kalyan at Tadepalli-gudem. D. Rajkumar Vudayar, the sculptor of the statue, will also sculpt Che Guevara’s statue.

He said that already the PYF has approached the Bhimavaram Municipal chairman Kotikalapudi Govinda Rao to choose a place for the statue and he promised to do so.

He said that Pawanism Youth Force is not related to Jana Sena party and it is a voluntary organisation to spread Pawan Kalyan’s ideological outlook to people.

All communities and religious persons are members and also involved in the activities. All political leaders are involved in PYF programmes and render their support, he said.

He said the PYF members will approach the MPs, MLAs and MLCs to cooperate with the installation of the statue in Bhimavaram town and they would soon complete the process.

Dandu Venkatraju is the honorary president of PYF and Sanivarapu Manikanta Sharma is vice-president, Mohammed Sohil is secretary and Puchakayala Ratna Raju is treasurer

of the organisation. All these persons belong to different communities and religions.

Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan fans have planned to set up the statues of Pawan Kalyan in all constituencies in West Godavari district. They said that after setting up of the first

statue at Tadepalligudem, the remaining would be set up in a phased manner.
