Bauxite mining only when locals want it, says Chandrababu Naidu

Mr Naidu appealed the public not to support corrupt leaders
Vizianagaram: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the TD government would take up bauxite mining in the Vizag Agency only when the locals wanted it. The government will not take a hasty decision, he said.
Participating in the Jana Chaitanya Yatra at Lakkavarapukota in Vizianagaram district on Monday, Mr Naidu said the TD government would effectively implement welfare schemes and not wind up any one of them despite the financial hurdles.
He told the meeting that Vizianagaram would top the list of developed districts once the international airport at Bhogapuram and the Tribal University are set up.
He said the TD government had completed irrigation projects including Thotapalli and Pattiseema and was committed to completing so-me more projects soon.
Mr Naidu appealed the public not to support corrupt leaders. He sought transparency in implementation of welfare schemes and development programmes. “I will not tolerate irregularities in the administration and the government will prosecute corrupt persons,” he said.
He said the Telugu De-sam had improved the image of Andhra Pradesh at the national and international levels, and “We are committed to fulfil all the assurances in a phased manner.”
Coming down heavily on the Opposition for not playing a constructive role, Mr Naidu said that the parties are “obstructing to our efforts and are creating nuisance.”
