Slum domination exercise, 65 rowdies rounded up
After recording their statements the rowdies were released with a stern warning.
BENGALURU: Sixty-five habitual offenders and rowdies were rounded up by the Southeast division police in an early morning surprise raid in three police station limits as part of a slum domination exercise. A team headed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Rohini Katoch Sepat rounded up the repeat offenders to update their profiles, conduct background checks and gather fingerprints. After recording their statements, the rowdies were released with a stern warning not to indulge in anti-social activities. The exercise was conducted in Nakalbande slum in Tilaknagar, HSR Layout slum quarters and in Sanjay Nagar, Manjunath Nagar, Ayyappa Nagar and Kadubisenahalli in HAL police station limits.
The rowdies were warned that their day-to-day activities would be monitored by the police. The police also conducted Jansampark Sabha with the public and heard their grievances. Six places across the three police stations were raided. The raid that began around 6 am concluded by 9.30 am. The police rounded up 20 rowdies, eight old offenders and 35 criminals under preventive sections 109 and 110 of IPC.
