Constable attempts suicide at the police station
An internal inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
Hyderabad: A constable working at the Turkapally police station in Nalgonda district attempted suicide at the police station on Monday. The constable, Ghouse, slit his throat with a blade. His colleagues rushed him to hospital and later shifted him to Gandhi Hospital for better treatment. Police deny any pressure from higher officials and suspect family problems. Md Ghouse, 35, a native of Devarakonda in Nalgonda, was transferred to Turkapally police station seven months ago. Police said that after joining at Turkapally he was irregular and often went on leave without informing the police station. He was on leave for more than seven days. On Monday morning at around 7.30 am, he came to the police station. “He straight away walked into the restroom in the police station and slit his throat with a blade. Other cops in the restroom saw this and rushed him to the hospital,” said Bhongir DSP S. Mohan Reddy. Sources said that he took this step due to pressure from superiors to be regular at work. However officials denied reports.
“We found that he had two wives and he had disputes with both families. This may be the reason behind the attempt. But we are yet to find the reason. We will know the reason only if he speaks,” added Mr Mohan Reddy. Ghouse is said to be out of danger. No case was registered. An internal inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
