30 year old man from Andhra Pradesh; held with fake visa

Saudi immigration officials sent him back to India

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man from AP, who went to Saudi Arabia via Dubai with the help of a visiting visa and an employment visa was sent back to India by Saudi immigration officials on Sunday as they found his name in the blacklist.

Khadeer Basha, who went to Saudi a few years ago, was sent back to India in 2014, for overstaying after expiry of the visa. Airport police is investigating the case.

Police said that, Shaik Khadeer Basha, a native of Giddalur in Prakasam district is an illiterate. As per immigration rules illiterates going abroad has to obtain a Protection of Immigrants (POI) certificate. At the time of obtaining the certificate, the visa is thoroughly verified for irregularities and this certificate allows the Indian embassy in the respective country to take care of the passenger in times of trouble.

Since agents send them for doing odd jobs abroad they do not get the POI certificate. In order to send them abroad by any means they resort to cheating. They convince them that they are travelling legally on an employment visa. Basha's agent arranged a visit visa till Dubai and a work Visa from Dubai to Saudi. Unaware of legalities, Basha left for Saudi on December 3. After he landed at Saudi with a work visa, he was taken through security checks.

"In 2014, he was sent back to India as per an agreement between Saudi and India to release people who were imprisoned for staying illegally after completing visa duration. During the process they collected his fingerprints and other details and was blacklisted," said RGIA SI Shekar.

When he gave his fingerprints it matched with blacklist. As a result, Saudi immigration officials sent him back to India and handed him over to the Indian immigration department, who later handed him over to airport police. A case under sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) was registered.
