Prohibitory orders issued in Kodagu

Video cameras have been installed at all five places and security has been intensified
Mysuru: Madikeri deputy commissioner Meer Anees Ahmed has issued prohibitory orders in some places of Kodagu under Section 144 of CRPC from 10 pm on Saturday to Monday 5 am as a precautionary measure in view of the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6.
The prohibitory orders are in force in a two kilometre radius around Madikeri, Virajpet, Somvarpt, Gonikoppa and Madapura in Kodagu district. “There was no threat, this is a preventive measure,” Madikeri SP Varthika Katiyar said.
Video cameras have been installed at all five places and security has been intensified. The police is keeping a strict vigil on every vehicle crossing the state border. Madikeri had witnessed violence during Tipu Jayanti celebrations held on November 10 which left two people dead. There were also allegations that some people from neighbouring Kerala had come to Madikeri on the day of the celebrations to incite violence.
