Pharmacies found guilty under scanner in Telangana
Karimnagar: Managements of private hospitals are running pharmacies on their own, violating norms of the Drug Control Act, 1940, according to information provided by Drug Control Administration (DCA), Telangana. Recently, sleuths of DCA conducted multiple surprise checks on these pharmacies across the state and found that the managements were committing 10 major and 86 minor violations with regard to the Act.
The pharmacies, attached to major hospitals in various districts of Telangana, were found indulging in major violations included overpricing of medicines, outdated drugs, not maintaining records of sales, quality drugs, cold storage and unhygienic conditions. In addition to that, they were being operated on unlicenced premises and flouting various norms of Drug Control Act, 1940.
Some of the hospitals violating norms were Vijaya Laxmi Clinic of Husnabad, Sri Srinivasa Kidney Centre and Karuna Nursing Home of Warangal, Dr Shinde Hospital, Bhanswada and Sri Raja Rajeshwara Nursing Home of Nizamabad, Sri Chandr-asekhara Homeo Clinic and Sri Venkateshwara Nursing Home from Khammam.
