Nasscom to train youth in cyber security
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) have joined hands to hone skills of the youth in areas like cyber security and data analytics.
L. Premchandra Reddy secretary Skill Development department in a press note on Sunday said it is worthy to note that IT Security market estimated at USD77 billion in 2015 and growing at over 8 percent annually.
Mr Premchandra Reddy said the demand for security workforce is to rise globally to 6 million by 2019, up from 4 million currently, with projected shortfall of 1.5 million. He said security market in India is estimated to be 1 per cent of the overall IT-BPM industry and rapid growth in security software product segment is projected at USD 250 million revenues in the financial year 2015. Mr Premchandra Reddy said it has been ball parked that over 5 lakh jobs would be available on application security and Data Security fields across the world.
Premchandra Reddy said that it has been proposed by APSSDC and Nasscom to conduct programmes in two areas for Phase-I , i.e, Cyber Security and Data Analytics, for which two job roles have been identified in each area, namely, Security Analyst and Associate Analytics. More job roles in these areas and other job roles in other areas will be identified and developed later as the initiative progresses.
Mr Premchandra Reddy said around 36 institutions across the state are partnering with them in this initiative and have also nominated their faculty members who will be trained in the first MOT programme to be held in association with Nasscom.
After this training, the courses would be offered to the pre-final engineering students in these institutions, the advantage being the course content and design has been developed with the help of industry trainers of Nasscom.
He said that the first MOT programme on cyber security and data analytics is being held between December 7 and December 11 at C.R. Rao Institute, Central University campus, Hyderabad, by APSSDC in association with Nasscom.
About 33 faculty members are participating in Cyber Security Course and 34 faculty members are participating in Data Analytics Course, spread across 36 institutions across the state.
