Man protests garbage dump, killed in Hyderabad

Victim suffered injuries on his abdomen, docs declare him brought dead

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old man was killed by his neighbour in Falaknuma on Sunday when he protested against dumping garbage in front of his house. Firoz Ahmed stabbed his neighbour Afroz Bin Ahmed, a mechanic, on Sunday afternoon at Achi Reddy Nagar in front of the latters’ wife and two children. Afroz, who sustained a deep injury in his abdomen, was declared brought dead to a local hospital. Firoz is absconding.

According to the police, Afroz had confronted Firoz and his family when they dumped garbage in front his house. The two had also quarreled several times over the same matter in the past.

“Afroz used to live on the ground floor, while Firoz and his family lived on the first floor of the same building. Firoz and his family would throw their garbage down from the first floor. As the waste fell right in front of his house, the victim and his family used to protest. This used to often lead to quarrels between both parties,” said Falaknuma police inspector Mr K. Kiran Kumar. Despite repeatedly complaining about their practice, Firoz and his family never stopped throwing waste.

“On Sunday afternoon, Firoz’s wife again threw garbage from top and it fell in front of the victim’s house. It lead to a heated argument between the wives of the accused and the victim. Afroz also joined the quarrel. Firoz, who was sleeping at that time, got up hearing his wife’s complaint and went down for a confrontation with the victim. He was carrying a sharp object, either a knife or a screwdriver. He attacked the victim who collapsed in few seconds,” said the inspector.

Though Afroz’s wife and neighbours took him to a local hospital, doctors declared him dead. Police has booked a case against Firoz for murder and is on the lookout for him.
