Lokpal may be single window stop for all corruption probe

At present graft cases are probed by several agencies including the CBI, CVC and police.

New Delhi: A Parliamentary panel examining the Lokpal bill may recommend that theproposed anti-corruption watchdog be a single window stop for probing all corruption complaints against government functionaries by ending multiplicity of investigating agencies to investigate graft cases.

The Parliamentary standing committee on pesonnel, public grievances, law and justice, headed by Congress MP E.M. Sudarsana Natchiappan, has examined the Lokpal and Lokayuktas and Other Related Law Bill, 2014, and will submit its report on Monday, sources said.

At present graft cases are probed by several agencies including the CBI, CVC and police. Meanwhile, a bill seeking to fast-track nuclear power projects is likely to be introduced in the Winter Session, while another legislation for according greater autonomy to the atomic energy regulator may not be brought this time.

The Union Cabinet had last month approved amendments to the Atomic Energy Act to enable Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd to enter into join ventures with other public sector undertakings.
