Congress moots anti-TRS front
He was speaking at a function at Gandhi Bhavan to mark the 69th death anniversary of BR Ambedkar
Hyderabad: TPCC working president and MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said that the Congress, being the main Opposition party in the state, will forge a political front that will counter the TRS’ “anti-people and anti-democratic agenda”. All like-minded parties would be welcomed to join this anti-TRS front, the MLA said.
He was speaking at a function at Gandhi Bhavan to mark the 69th death anniversary of BR Ambedkar. Reminding the gathering of Ambedkar’s observations on implementation of the Constitution in letter and spirit, Mr Vikramarka said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been resorting to unethical means and violating all democratic and Constitutional norms propagated by Babasaheb.
“Everything being done is contrary to what Ambedkar said. Opposition legislators, MPTCs and ZPTCs are all being targeted now by the TRS and pressure being exerted on them to switch over sides. This is nothing but unconstitutional and unethical,” the MLA said.
He said the time to teach a lesson to ruling party in the state has come and added that the Congress has already decided not to have any truck at any level with the TRS in the MLC polls or any other election in t he future.
“Instead, we will make all efforts to build an Opposition front with like-minded parties and even put up common candidates in all future elections to take on and defeat the TRS,” Mr Vikramarka said.
He said despite TRS not even winning a single MPTC in Khammam district, it was fielding its candidate hoping that it can manage the electors from other parties, a practise that is most unethical.
