Chief Commissioner of Land Administration stops mutation scams

Revenue, registration wings linked online, multiple sale of same properties ends
Hyderabad: Mutation of property, done manually by the revenue department, has been giving scope for large-scale irregularities in property transactions in Telangana State.
Mutation is the change of title ownership from one person to another when the property is sold or transferred.
Complaints against revenue department regarding manipulation of property documents registered with stamps and registration department are on the rise.
While property is getting registered on one person’s name at the registration department, the mutation records of revenue department show the name of others due to manipulation during manual entry method.
This is being exploited by unscrupulous owners who intend to sell the same property to multiple buyers.
To overcome these issues, the state government has now made the entire mutation process online. It has brought ‘mutation tracking system’ giving no scope for manipulation, right from the MRO level to VRO level , by capturing the mutation process online.
“The irregularities were because there was no linkage between registration and revenue departments. Recently, we integrated the registration department’s server with the Web Land Server of the revenue department. Once any property gets registered in registration department, the information is automatically available on the computers at the MRO. From there it will be forwarded to revenue inspector and VRO for verification online before issuing mutation certificate,” said Raymond Peter, chief commissioner of land administration.
Mr Peter said even the mobile phone numbers of property buyers and sellers will be captured and if anyone applies for mutation, they would instantly receive SMS.
