Woman who cheated BPO employee held in Telangana
Hyderabad: A 45-year-old woman who cheated a BPO employee by luring her to settle the case with her boyfriend and collected Rs 51,200 from the victim was arrested by Uppal police on Saturday. The victim approached the accused with the help of her son after her lover refused to marry her.
Police said that a 25-year-old employee working at the Uppal Genpact Campus fell in love with her colleague Md Irfan. They were in a relationship for a few months. Later, when she asked him about marriage he rejected her proposal. The victim lodged a complaint with the Uppal police in June 2015. The case was under investigation.
Meanwhile, the victim was depressed with the case pending in court. She came to know one K. Vasantha through her friend who is the younger son of Vasantha. Vasantha, a resident of Neredmet, claiming to be the director of 9tv and the associate editor of Telugu monthly Mahila Darbar and president of NGO All India Sonia Gandhi Women's Rights & Protection Council, assured the victim that she will settle the issue with her lover.
“She made her believe that she has political influence and using it she will solve her problem,” said Uppal inspector Y. Narsimha Reddy.
Believing her, the victim paid Rs 5,100 as application fees. Vasantha later collected another Rs 45,100 from the victim to be paid to some persons who would help them. Later, she went missing and when the victim visited her house, it was locked. Based on a complaint from the victim, police registered a cheating case and arrested her. Police after verifying the call data records of Vasantha found that she made around 100 outgoing calls a day and attended around 200 calls a day.
