Minister loses his cool at Zilla Parishat meeting
Nellore: The Zilla Parishat general body meeting held here on Saturday witnessed heated arguments between YSRC and TD legislators after the latter criticised the government for involving Janmabhoomi committees in flood relief works. Members also found lapses in relief work and enumeration of damages. For the first time, minister for municipal administration Narayana was seen in attacking mode when he was accused by YSRC MLAs for protocol violations.
Sullurpeta legislator Kileveti Sanjeevaiah and Kavali legislator Ramire-ddy Pratapkumar Reddy alleged that the minister is visiting their assembly segments without any information to them.
Mr Pratapkumar Reddy went a step ahead and said that he is not going to keep quiet if minister visits his segment without intimating him in future. He also ridiculed the minister for his midnight inspections.
Visibly angry with the legislator's comment, Dr Narayana, while referring to the MLA's business interest and contracts in Bengaluru, advised him to stay in Kavali and available to public before accusing anyone.
The minister said that district administration would pass on the details of his official programmes to legislators but his surprise checks are not disclosed to officials also till last minute because the latter opt for window dressing to make everything appear neat and clean.
Speaking in support of the minister, TD members questioned the rationale behind YSRC members' outburst on protocol issues while reminding that their names are mentioned on plaques of development works.
MLC Beeda Ravichandra justified the role being played by Janmab-hoomi committees when YSR members raised a hue and cry over their interference in distribution of relief and enumeration of damages.
They also expressed their displeasure over domination by TD assembly in-charges ignoring the elected legislators of YSRC.
Minister had some uncomfortable movements when Nellore rural legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy demanded to know what action being taken against bigwigs who constructed buildings on irrigation canals on the outskirts of Nellore indirectly referring to Narayana institutions.
