Samsung launches revamped 2016 Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 variants

All three iterations will offer myriad upgrades in comparison to their predecessors.

Mumbai: After a series of speculations and leaks, Samsung has finally launched three second generation smartphones under its Galaxy A series—A3(2016), A5 (2016)and A7 (2016). The handsets will be launched in China by mid-December before hitting other markets around the globe.

All three iterations will offer myriad upgrades over their predecessors, and will feature metal-clad bodies just like the Galaxy S6. Few major additions are the inclusion of fingerprint scanners and optically stabilised cameras.

According to Sammobile, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) will be priced at around Rs 23,900 ($359) and the Galaxy A5 (2016) will be priced at Rs 28,900 ($435). However, no information regarding the price of the A7 (2016) is available. All the above-mentioned prices are exclusively for European markets and could vary in other markets.

Even though the A5 and A7 have received most of the upgrades (A3 does not have fingerprint scanner or optical stabilisation), the A3 is also priced relatively high. The premium design of the three handsets might be a reason for the bumped up price.

The 4.7-inch screen on the A3 is also comparatively smaller than the A5’s 5.2-inch display, and the A7’s 5.5-inch one. Also, the A5 and A7 have Full HD resolutions in contrast to the A3’s HD display.

On the camera front, all three devices sport a 13MP rear camera setup and a 5Mp front shooter with an amazing aperture of F/1.9. All the devices also have a storage capacity of 16GB that can be increased to 128GB via external microSD cards.

At the core, the A5 and A7 handsets are powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, while the A3 uses a 1.5Ghz quad-core chipset. 1.5GB RAM on the A3 is the lowest in comparison to the A5’s 2GB RAM, and the 3GB RAM on the A7. All the three devices run on Android Lollipop 5.1 Operating system.

The A3’s 2,300 mAh battery, the A5’s 2,900 mAh unit, the A7’s massive 3,300 mAh cell are fairly balanced in terms of their built and hardware. The handsets will be available in three colors: white, black, gold and pink gold.

All the three revamped handsets have been designed quite radiantly and also promise better performance than their successors.
