Visakha Utsav works reviewed
Visakhapatnam: HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Friday held a review meeting with officials of various departments to discuss the preparations for Visakha Utsav and Araku Utsav. This year both Visakha and Araku Utsavs are planned to be held as state festivals on December 25, 26 and 27.
Discussions on enhancing the brand image of Vizag, attracting domestic and international tourists and publicising tourist places in the district were held during the review meeting. This year too RK beach has been identified as the main venue of Visakha Utsav and various other programmes will be held at Jatara, Vuda Park and Kailsagiri during the three days.
Talking to reporters after the review meeting, the minister said Visakha Utsav will begin with carnival and cultural programmes on the beach road on December 25.
“Based on last year’s experience, we are planning more programmes this year. Apart from the carnival, flower and laser shows, replicas of various temples and a replica of capital Amaravati would also be set up. Attractive tour packages will be offered during the three days. To conduct all these programmes, we will call for tenders from event management companies. We are also planning a publicity blitzkrieg about Visakha and Araku Utsavs in all metro cities in the country, states like Odisha, Chattisgarh, Tamil Nadu and also in foreign countries,” he said.
The minister further said that, Visakha Utsav office will be opened on December 10 at Vuda building and publicity material, website will be launched on the same day.
