Police dogs stop shifting of cops from Hyderabad to Vijayawada

Police officials told the committee that they need about 90 lakh square feet space for official accommodation and a big ground to train the police personal. Besides these, police officials told the committee that the main problem the department faces is finding accommodation to locate police dogs at Vijayawada.

The police department utilises the services of trained police dogs for searching drugs, explosives, criminals based on evidence from crime scene and others. The police department has several breeds of dogs, including German Shepherds. After being informed about accommodation problem for police dogs, the committee told the police officers that further discussions on shifting of police department can be held later.

Meanwhile, several departments like school education, higher education, agriculture, reven-ue, prisons, excise, commercial taxes and others informed the committee that they are searching for the official accommodation on their own.

The committee told the officials that the Secretariat departments are likely to be shifted to Medha Towers. The AP Sec-retariat is about 2.05 lakh square feet space wh-ere as the Medha Towers has about 1.75 square feet space. The committee said majority Secretari-at departments can be accommodated in Med-ha Towers and if necessary temporary structures can be built next to the towers as it has about 30 acres land.
