Mumbai: Maharashtra Assembly speaker Haribhau Bagde has dismissed the privilege motion against columnist Shobhaa De for her tweet against the state government’s decision to make it mandatory for multiplexes to screen Marathi films during the prime-time slot.
An official from the state Legislature confirmed that the Assembly speaker found no connection between Ms De’s comments and the proceedings of the House, and thus decided to dismiss the motion. Usually, the matter goes to the privilege committee for inquiry. But the speaker dismissed it before that.
