List Gangi Reddy case to Monday, Registry told
Not proper to name persons holding office of CM as respondent, says Judge.
Hyderabad: Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Friday directed its Registry to list the plea of Malavika, wife of red sanders smuggler Kollam Gangi Reddy, for hearing after deleting the name of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu as respondent to the plea.
The authorities of crime investigation department of AP have kept Gangi Reddy in Kadapa Central Prison after his extradition from Mauritius. Ms Malavika moved the plea for shifting of her husband from Kadapa jail to any other jail in Hydera-bad alleging that he has life threat from Mr Naidu.
She submitted that her husband is a businessman and he was being framed by booking several cases to harass him mentally and physically for political reasons.
Earlier, he was made an accused in the Alipiri blast incident but the court had acquitted him. After coming into power again, Mr Naidu has been making efforts to
book him in false cases, she alleged.
The Registry has raised objection on making the Chief Minister as a party to the petition and placed it before the judge. After hearing the petitioner's counsel version on the objection of the Registry, the judge said that it is not proper to name the persons currently holding the office of the Chief Minister as respondents and told the Registry to list the case to Monday after deleting the name.
APGenco told not to fill up posts
Justice P. Naveen Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the APGenco and its vigilance and security wing not to fill the vacancies of firemen and security guards till further orders.
The judge was dealing with a petition by Yelisetti Parvati of Guntur district challenging a notification issued in April 2013 seeking applications from aspirants for two posts of firemen and security guards.
S.R. Sanku, counsel for the petitioner, said that though there is an obligation upon the authorities to earmark 33 per cent of posts for women, the auth-orities issued notification without making any such provision for women.
The counsel appearing for APGenco said the authorities have not reserved any posts to the women on the ground that women are not suitable to the posts of firemen and security guards.
Mr Sanku objected to the contention of the APGenco and said that in this modern era women are even going to space and blocking them even for smaller posts like security guards and firemen is absurd.
He said the officials not only showing discrimination towards women they are also offending several constitutional provisions pertaining to equality and right to a dignified life.
While issuing the notices to the respondent, Justice Naveen Rao directed them to explain their stand on the plea of showing discrimination against women in recruitments and not to fill up posts till further orders.
