BSNL serves notice to former President APJ Abdul Kalam

The notice signed by an accounts officer

Thiruvananthapuram: The BSNL will not allow the former President A.P. J. Abdul Kalam to rest in peace. It has issued a revenue recovery notice for a paltry amount of Rs 1,029 in the name of Kalam for his telephone use during his stay at the Raj Bhavan in 2010.

To add insult to injury, the notice signed by an accounts officer also gave Kalam an option to settle the dues in an adalat to be held in Thiruvananthapuram this month, not knowing perhaps that he is no more.

The office of the deputy general manager of telecom revenue accounts here issued the notice warning of revenue recovery proceedings for default in payments of Rs 1,029 for casual connection provided at Raj Bhavan during Kalam’s visit. Even as Raj Bhavan authorities settled the dues, the BSNL officials are likely to face action in this connection.
