His friend miraculously escaped without even a scratch.

Bengaluru: An 18-year-old second PU student died on the spot, while his friend had a miraculous escape after their car was rammed into by another rashly driven car on a service road near Outer Ring Road in HSR Layout early on Friday morning.

The deceased, Rishab A.K., was a student of Christ University and a resident of Vijaya Bank Colony in Bilekahalli, the police said. Rishab’s friend Aaron escaped without even a scratch.

Rishab, along with Aaron, was returning to BTM Layout from Iblur after having dinner. Around 2.30 am, when they reached near the 5th Main junction on the service road near the Outer Ring Road, a Maruti Swift DZire (KA-51-B-6968) that was being driven rashly, rammed into Rishab’s car, which lost control and crashed into an electric pole, killing Rishab on the spot.

His body was trapped in the mangled remains of the car and could be extricated only after the Fire and Emergency services arrived at the spot.

Aaron escaped unhurt miraculously, the police said. Rishab’s body was shifted to St John’s Hospital for the postmortem and was later handed over to his family members. Aaron is in shock, said his friends who were at the St John’s Hospital morgue.

The Madiwala traffic police traced the car that caused the accident 2 km away from the accident spot where the driver had abandoned it. The police have registered a case of hit and run.
