Have vital clues in Kalburgi case: Dr G Parameshwar

Dr G said the government was confident of nabbing the culprits very soon.

Mysuru: Responding to the statement of the M.M. Kalburgi family members who said they were losing patience over the delay in the investigation into his murder, Home Minister Mr G Parameshwar said the government was confident of nabbing the culprits very soon. “There are vital clues that Kalburgi’s shooting has some connection with rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar's murder in Maharashtra,” he said.

He was speaking to the media after participating in the passing-out parade of the 43rd batch of 87 prison personnel at the Prison Training Institute, here on Friday morning.

On being asked about BJP leader Pralhad Joshi’s statement in the Lok Sabha about the lack of funds for the CID, he said, “There is no such fund crunch in CID. We will not stop the investigation at any cost. There are many sensitive issues. The Home Minister of Maharashtra has stated that Kalburgi’s death has no connection with the murder of Dabholkar. But we have some strong clues to prove that there is a connection between the two murders. I do not want to reveal anything as the investigation is underway,” he said.

When asked if they have plans to hand over Kalburgi’s case to CBI, he said, “There is no necessity to hand over the case to CBI. Our CID team is capable. We will take all necessary assistance from IB or CBI,” he said.

Earlier, speaking at the institute, Parameshwar promised to address the issue of shortage of personnel in the Police department very soon. “Among those passing out today, 17 are post-graduates, six of them have done B Ed, eight have completed D Ed, 44 are graduates, two hold Diplomas. We are getting personnel who have studied M Tech. This only indicates the quality of personnel in the police department. The personnel who are passing out today are being even trained in psychology,” he said.
