A Vin win for Deepika
If the buzz is true, she was there to sign a film opposite Hollywood action star Vin Diesel.
Things couldn’t get better for Deepika Padukone. Even as her golden phase in Bollywood continues, she may have just landed a sweet deal in Hollywood too. The actress has apparently signed a film titled XXX: The Return of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel. There has been no official confirmation on this yet, but a string of conversations on Deepika’s manager Anirban Blah’s Facebook page were enough to join the dots.
Blah updated his status on Friday night by uploading a photo that Deepika had shared on Instagram. It was a photo of herself with Vin Diesel — she’s facing the camera while Vin has his back towards the camera. She had also tagged him in the picture and Vin Diesel was trending on social media. Captioning that photo, Blah’s status read: “I am so proud of this girl, what an announcement, what a journey it has been”.
Tanveer, CCO of Balaji Motion Pictures commented on the post, saying, “Mastani and now The Return of Xander Cage.” To which a friend replied, “What…is that who I think it is.” Blah’s response to that read: “It is… Guess who the female lead is?” From what we know, three days ago Deepika had flown to the US, soon after attending the Tamasha party.
A source says, “Deepika was in talks with them from a long time but she was occupied with the promotions of Tamasha. But before plunging into the promotions of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, she had to make this trip to sign on the dotted line and get the paperwork in place. Deepika had informed Bhansali long in advance that she wouldn’t be available for promotions for about three to four days.”
Earlier, the actress was approached for Fast and Furious 7 although she had to turn it down to make place for Happy New Year. But now it seems she has hit the jackpot because of that. According to close sources Deepika is expected to return to the city tonight and an official confirmation is likely to come in very soon.
