Telangana plans hub for gaming, aerospace
Hyderabad: The Telangana government plans to set up two incubation centres for aerospace and gaming in a span of four months.
Speaking to media persons on Thursday, minister for IT and panchayati raj K.T. Rama Rao said, “We are working to set up an aerospace incubation centre. We are talking to Boeing and Pratt & Whitney. We want to develop a specific centre where all the institutes come together with the government support.”
A gaming and animation centre will also be set up as part of T-Hub and will be inaugurated on December 5. The aerospace incubation centre, meanwhile, will come up by March next year. The government is also talking to IIT-H to partner in the aerospace venture.
IIT Hyderabad on Thursday inagurated its Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship to develop and promote affordable healthcare services. The centre is promoted by two IIT-H alumini, Rajesh Mashruwala, CEO Mashruwala Investments and Avi Nash, MD Indian River Advisors Corporation.
IIT-H director U.B. Desai said, “Indians suffer from different kinds of diseases which are very complex. So, there’s a need to develop technologies that caters to the needs of people of different strata. So, we will be focusing on developing affordable solutions and also mull on commercialising the products.” However, some feel new technologies would just increase costs.
“Look at the technologies we had introduced earlier. All have added to the costs. Be it ECG or other advances, none have served the purpose of bringing down costs. The need of the hour is focus on R&D,” said Amar Matlani, an expert from healthcare.
