India belongs to everyone, says Asaduddin Owaisi

India will become a Muslim country in the next 100 years, said Asaduddin Owaisi.

Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi has said that India will never be a country for one particular religion, it belongs to all Hindustanis.

Addressing a public meeting on late on Wednesday at the party headquarters in Hyderabad to mark the 23rd anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid, Mr Owaisi alleged that the Sangh Parivar was organising a systematic campaign to turn India into a “Hindu Rashtra” and said that these attempts would be futile since Muslims will remain in India till the end of time.

Maintaining that plurality is India’s strength, he said India belongs to the people born here, including Muslims, Dalits and Christians.

Mr Owaisi accused the Sangh Parivar of launching a vicious campaign to create hatred against Muslims by claiming that the Muslim population is increasing and if this continues, India will become a Muslim country in the next 100 years.

He said that these claims were baseless, as proved by the 2011 Census which shows that there is a 6 per cent decrease in Muslim population growth.

Referring to statements by BJP and RSS leaders after the Dadri lynching incident and Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy’s comments that the fight against intolerance will only be balanced when Muslims consume pork in the open, he said that there was an immediate need to remove hatred in people’s minds.

"The people have now realised who the forces are behind the rising intolerance in the country," Mr Owaisi said, holding Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for the intolerant atmosphere in the country.

Maintaining that victory and defeat are decided by the Almighty, the MP said that the MIM will penetrate into every nook and corner of the country and bring about unity among Muslims, Dalits and other backward classes.
