Belagavi MLA gets threat letter over grave issue

The letter also warned that the ruling Congress party would be digging its grave in Belagavi

Belagavi: At a time when Belagavi district administration and police are struggling to remove a controversial grave at Khanjar Galli which led to a communal clash recently, Belagavi MLA Feroz Sait has received an anonymous letter in which he and his family has been threatened with dire consequences if he indirectly supported the removal of the grave.

The letter also warned that the ruling Congress party would be digging its grave in Belagavi if Minister Satish Jarkiholi attempted to politicise the issue.

“We will not be intimidated by any leader even if they try to threaten us (minority community) through police officials,'' the letter adds.

According to sources, the letter has been received by all 58 Muslim jamats of Belagavi which condemns the alleged atrocities on youth of minority community by the police in connection with clashes that took place over the controversial grave.

Giving a call to people of minority community to wake up and stop atrocities on their people, the letter says it is not possible for the minority community to remain silent and allow the demolition of the grave. Those trying to demolish the grave will have to face severe consequences, it says.
