Tirupati: A two-day search for Chandragiri YSR Congress MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy for allegedly slapping the Air India airport manager at Renigunta, Tirupati, last week, ended on Thursday when he surrendered at the Yerpedu police station.
According to Yerpedu SI Ramakrishna, the MLA was arrested immediately after he surrendered and produced before the Srikalahasti court after the completion of all formalities including a medical test.
Police had registered the case under Sections 325, 457, 320 against the MLA for allegedly assaulting Air India airport manager S. Rajsekhar on November 26. Mr Bhaskar Reddy was among 15 others booked along with Rajampet MP P. Mithun Reddy for allegedly barging into the manager's cabin and attacking him for not issuing boarding passes to his followers as they were late by 15 minutes.
Police produced Mr Bhaskar Reddy before junior civil first class magistrate Subba Reddy. The MLA surrendered to the police after his petition which he had filed in the court two days back was turned down.
