Bengaluru: Doctor caught taking bribe
BENGALURU: A doctor at Ramanagar district government hospital was trapped by the Lokayukta police on Thursday morning, while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000. The accused, identified as Dr Usha S. Kadaramandalagi, was later arrested by the police.
Police said that Murthy, a resident of Ramangar, had admitted his pregnant wife on November 26 to the hospital and she delivered a baby on November 29. However, the doctor was not discharging his wife, though she was fine. When Murthy requested her to discharge his wife, the doctor allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000, but later settled for Rs 2,000.
“Unwilling to pay the bribe, Murthy approached the Lokayukta police, who took up a case under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act. A trap was laid and the accused doctor was caught while receiving bribe from the complainant on Thursday . She was arrested and is being questioned,” the police said.
