Huge sets had been created and hotels had been booked for the cancelled event

The IIFA Utsavam that was cancelled in the last minute because of the Chennai floods and to show solidarity for the people of Chennai has resulted in a huge loss for the organisers.

The event was being organised on a large scale and the organisers had been working from the last ten days on this event. A source added that they had even erected big sets for the show. Hotels, too, had been booked to accommodate many actors from the four South film industries who were flying in for the do.

“It’s going to be a huge loss for the organisers and this change in the plan may cost them around Rs 5 crore,” says a source.

When contacted, the organisers said that they don’t want to talk about this issue and that it is confidential.

One of the organisers said, “Why do you want to talk about the loss? This is very confidential and we postponed our show in solidarity for the people of Chennai.”
