Hashim Amla keen to salvage pride
Amla asserted that they would like to leave the Indian shores with a win in the final game
New Delhi: The series is all but over for South Africa, but skipper Hashim Amla is keen to finish on a positive note. Ahead of the final Test here - India lead the four-match series 2-0 that includes a draw - Amla chose to reflect on the positives and asserted that they would like to leave the Indian shores with a win in the final game.
Said Amla, “We got the England series very close, two weeks after we get back. It is very important for us to get back to winning ways. “There are no freebies in Test cricket. You want to make an impact and you want to win. It’s very important for us to go at least 2-1, salvage some pride from the series.” South Africa won the T20 and one-day series on their 72-day tour, but have been on the back foot in Tests.
“We came to India almost two-and-half months ago and we had a largely successful tour in terms of winning the Twenty20 and the one-dayers. It would be nice to cap off the tour with a victory,” he said.
