GHMC ignores opposition MLAs
The government has not issued Rs 5 crore MLA funds and the money is being spent by ministers
Hyderabad: The general public is caught between opposition MLAs and in-charge ministers and civic works are getting ignored. Opposition MLAs have complained that the GHMC is executing works proposed by the in-charge district minister instead of accepting proposals from MLAs.
For example if street lights, internal roads or water connection is needed, the GHMC is going ahead with the two bed room scheme, two bins, RO plants etc.
The government has not issued Rs 5 crore MLA funds and the money is being spent by ministers.
Quthbullapur TDP MLA K.V Vivekanand said, “The government is supposed to give Rs 5 crore per Assembly constituency for development works. The elected representative after discussions with the public submitted proposals to the GHMC but they are kept pending as the proposal made by the district in-charge minister in consultation with TRS workers are being considered. In Quthbullapur laying of underground drainage in MN Nagar and construction of culverts at Venkanna Hills were proposed but without the MLA's knowledge other works are being taken up. Without informing the MLA they are going ahead with works suggested by TRS workers. The in-charge district minister just comes for the inauguration and has no idea of the rest.”
