Bengaluru: Brothers held for killing 29-year-old man

Street cloth vendor stabbed to death for Rs 2,000

BENGALURU: In a swift action, JJ Nagar police arrested two brothers for allegedly stabbing their 29-year-old friend to death on Tuesday night. The police, who had formed a special team, cracked the case within 12 hours of it being reported.

Salman, 24, a resident of Farookhinagar and street vendor, and his brother Sultan were arrested on Wednesday afternoon from a nearby Muslim burial ground in Farookhinagar where the two were hiding. After a brief interrogation, they confessed to the murder.

The deceased, Wasim, a street cloth vendor and Salman’s friend, was stabbed to death near his house by the brothers around 9 pm after he refused to give Rs 2,000. Salman and Wasim were having a casual chat when Salman asked for Rs 2,000 loan.

Wasim told Salman that he had money but cannot give as he had to buy groceries for the house. When Wasim refused to part with the money even after much persuasion, Salman returned with Sultan and stabbed and fled from the spot.

Passersby heard Wasim crying for help and shifted him to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Based on eyewitness accounts, the police launched a hunt and arrested the two brothers on Wednesday.
