Bengaluru: 23-year-old woman commuter molested by auto driver, his friend

BENGALURU: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly molested by an autorickshaw driver and his friend on Nandidurga Road in JC Nagar late on Tuesday night. The victim filed a complaint on Wednesday with the Cubbon Park police, who have launched a manhunt for the offenders. The incident took place near her house on Nandidurg road around 11.30 pm.

The victim, who is an employee with a garment shop on Commercial Street and who hails from Gujarat, has stated in her complaint that she took autorickshaws regularly to reach back home after work. On Tuesday night, she walked till Cauvery Emporium on MG Road along with her friend and was waiting for a transport after her friend left.

An autorickshaw stopped near her and the driver agreed to take her till Nandidurg Road. But she found a man sitting in the backseat, and complained to the driver. But the driver told her that he was his friend and was sitting at the back because of police checking.

“But when they came to Nandidurg Road, they stopped the vehicle nearly 500 metres away from my home. Both started harassing me and I started screaming for help. Two men, who were on a bike, heard my screams and came towards the auto. I jumped out of the auto and ran to my house, while the auto driver and his friend fled,” she stated in the complaint.

She informed her mother and a cousin, who are living with her, before filing the complaint on Wednesday morning.
