Micromax’s YU Yutopia flagship smartphone to be launched next week

YU’s latest offering will feature a Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core chipset

Mumbai: After relentlessly teasing the handset on social media websites for weeks, Micromax’s online brand YU Televentures is all set to roll out a high-end flagship next week.

The company has confirmed that the new device will be launched next Monday and has subsequently sent media invites for the December 7 event in New Delhi.

YU tweeted yesterday: “Cancel everything else & block 7th December 2015 to meet the beast & witness the most powerful phone ever. #YUTOPIA.”

Over the past few weeks, the company has been taking digs at devices manufactured by bigger players in the market such as Apple, OnePlus, and Samsung.

The YU Yutopia is going to be the company’s first high-end device and the leaks suggest that the device will sport a 5.2 or 5/5-inch QHD (2560x1440) display.

At its core, Yu’s latest offering will feature a Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core chipset, Adreno 430 GPU, and 4GB RAM.

Surprisingly, the company targeted Apple in a recent teaser, indicating that the Yutopia will have a larger battery unit and storage capacity than Apple devices. The company has confirmed that the handset would have storage capacity of 32GB.

On the camera front, the device is speculated to have a stunning 21MP rear shooter and an 8MP front camera for delightful selfies. Previously, a series of amazing pictures clicked with the device were shared on the company’s Twitter page.

It also took a dig at OnePlus for having no fast charging option, pointing out the availability of quick charging on the Yutopia. Also, the handset will feature a premium-class full metal body design.

The YU Yutopia will carry a price tag of Rs 24,999 and its direct competitors in the India smartphone market will undoubtedly be the OnePlus 2 and the recently launched QiKU Terra 810. But the question remains the same: Will Yutopia really be the ‘most powerful phnoe ever’?
