Pakistan may play next Day-Night Test in Australia

Cricket Australia had invited PCB "to feel" the thrill of the D/N Test

Mumbai: Pakistan team may play the next D/N Test in Australia. After successfully hosting the first ever D/N Test match (Australia-New Zealand), Cricket Australia (CA) may invite the Pakistani team to play the Test match next year.

CA had invited the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) "to feel" the thrill of the D/N Test and accordingly, Zakir Khan, the Director, (International Cricket Operations) was present during the Adelaide Test.

Speaking exclusively from Australia, Khan said, "I was present during the D/N Test and will submit my report to the PCB. It will then be between the two boards (Australia and Pakistan) whether to agree for a D/N Test next season."

Khan was scheduled to leave for UAE, where he would join with the Pakistan A team as a manager. "I shall be returning to Pakistan only during the last week of this month. So the report will be sent thereafter," Khan added further.

Khan, 52, himself represented his country in two Tests and 17 ODIs. The tour itinerary for the Pakistan's tour of Australia is yet to be finalised.

On behalf of CA, the spectator research for the first ever D/N Test (Adelaide Oval) was conducted by Futures Sport and Entertainment and the report is very positive and encouraging, according to a media release.

Despite being a D/N Test, the players of both teams (Australia and New Zealand) were in whites. Perhaps there was no need to move to coloured clothing because of the pink ball and the two boards and their players wanted to maintain the tradition, it is learnt.

For changing to coloured clothing, it would need to go under further discussion, which hasn’t happened yet.
